Products that Lives Up to its Hype

Growing up, one of my first memories of beauty was my mom’s vanity filled with Shiseido, and Lancome. At a young age, my mom instilled many lessons about beauty. Beauty is always in the eye of its beholder. A little laughter is more effective than any product. Lastly, skincare is the foundation of any beauty regiment.

When I first started getting into beauty, I was focused on the makeup ranging from arrays of eyeshadow palettes to countless blushes. However, as I got older, I finally realized that my mom was right from the very beginning – skincare is the foundation of beauty. As a true lazy being, I learned that if I mastered skincare, I can get away with wearing minimal makeup on a daily basis and have an effortless glow.

Skincare can be intimidating given the billow of products flooding the market daily. With Instagram influencing consumerism, it’s hard to differentiate from the fluff and the real. So, I decided to round up some of my favorite “hype” products that are stable to my skincare regiment. As a disclaimer, these are the products that worked for me and may not work for all skin types.

  1. Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask: This product is more than just a mask; it can be used as a moisturizer and primer as well. As a working professional, I love that this product is a multi-tasker and simple to use.  I find myself reaching for this product every time I feel my skin dehydrated and needing instant results. This is one item that I cannot shut up about & recommending to every friend.
  2. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: Winter months are upon us and with winter, it comes with chapped, blistering lips from the harsh weather and dry air. However, our prayers have been heard and this lip sleeping mask keeps your skin hydrates as your heater sucks all the moisture out of the air. Fair warning, applying this product does get a little messy and sticky since it comes in a small pot and uses a small applicator.
  3. Glossier milky jelly cleanser: Unlike many Glossier products, this item is not as Instagram-worthy as the rest. However, it definitely does do its job and more. Long gone are the days of tightness and dryness after cleansing. This product does a deep clean of my skin and hydrates it at the same time.
  4. TheInkeyList Caffeine Eye Cream: This is one of the latest products that I have tried while on a trip to NYC. Ever since high school, dark circles seem to be a permanent feature on my face. However, after only a month of using this product consistently, they are finally gone. I did thorough research on caffeine and its effects for dark circle but have never been able to find a potent, affordable option until TheInkeyList.
  5. pixi Glow Tonic: I hate to admit it but I have been terrible at using SPF – thus, I’ve tried to stay away from any products that contain AHA. However, as I got older, I realized my skin was not turning over as it used to – so I decided to use SPF & a small-dosage chemical exfoliator. The Glow Tonic is a perfect introduction to AHA where it resurfaces my skin and gives me that natural glow without being too harsh for a newbie to AHA solution.

As mentioned before, different products for different folks – these are the trendy new products that have captured my heart. What new “hype” products that have been added to your arsenal? Drop a comment below and let me know!
